OS3C-2:INVESTIGATION OF THE KINETIC HYDRATE INHIBITORS PERFORMACE IN GAS FROM THE SOUTH CHINA SEA

  Kinetic hydrate inhibitors (KHIs) were used to prevent gas hydrate formation in gas- and oil field production. KHIs were water-soluble polymers and delayed the nucleation and usually also the crystal growth of gas hydrates. The previous test of the performance of KHIs mainly focused on tetrahydrofuran hydrate crystals or simple synthetic natural gas mixture. However, real natural gas from actual gas field was complicated and the KHIs performance in real natural gas is not quite clear. In this paper, the inhibitor effects of few KHIs were tested from 2℃ to 10℃ and pressure range from 2-10MPa in the case of real gas from yacheng gas field and Liwan of the South China Sea, which involved more than ten kinds of gas components. KHIs included poly(N-vinyl) pyrrolidone (PVPK90), ISP501,and HY4,etc. The results showed that HY4 performed better than PVPK90 and ISP501, which induction time was more than 15 hours at temperature slight higher than their subcooling. Additionally, the hydrate equilibrium of Liwan gas and yacheng gas were measured from 2-25MPa.
